Executive Director and College Counselor
Carlos is Peak Education’s Chief Executive Officer and also serves as Basecamp's Executive Director. He began his career in college counseling as an Admission Counselor and Assistant Director of Admission at Colorado College in the summer of 2004. He worked for CC until the fall of 2010 when he was selected to oversee freshmen outreach and recruitment at Colorado State University – Fort Collins. With experience gained from a leadership position at CSU, Carlos was invited to become the Director of Admission at Colorado College in 2014 and continued to serve in that role until the summer of 2019.
He has held several leadership roles in admission counseling professional organizations including a term as president of the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC), chairing the Member Relations Committee for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), co-chairing the NACAC Hispanic/Latino Special Interest Group, and serving as a member of the faculty of the College Board Summer Admission Institute.
Since graduating from Colorado College with a B.A. in history and political science, Carlos has completed an M.A. in student affairs and higher education at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in organizational leadership and change through the University of Southern California.
Originally from Wisconsin, Callie and her family now live in South Florida where she serves as a college counselor at an independent high school. Prior to moving to Florida, Callie lived in Chicago, Illinois for 11 years where she worked in college admissions at the University of Chicago and in corporate recruiting for a multi-billion-dollar industrial supply company. A graduate of the University of Chicago, Callie studied comparative human development and was a two-sport varsity athlete. She also has a master's degree in social work administration from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. Callie enjoys developing meaningful relationships with students and families and assisting students in finding post-secondary environments where they will thrive. She is honored to help Peak Education expand its programming to a social enterprise offering dynamic, intentional, and personalized college counseling.
Nataya Stepleton is the Program Specialist for Basecamp. In addition to designing the Basecamp website, she has played a key role in developing the framework for Basecamp’s online learning modules, working in tandem with CEO Carlos Jimenez and other members of the Basecamp college counseling creative team.
Nataya joined Peak Education as the organization’s first Fellow in May 2019. Her initial efforts were instrumental to the redesign and relaunch of the Peak Education website as well as our enhanced social media presence. She also has focused in part on communications and program support for Peak Education’s nearly 300 scholars.
Nataya graduated in May of 2019 from The College of Idaho and received a Bachelor’s in Business with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation. One of her overarching goals in her career is to help strengthen community in any ways she can contribute meaningfully. At The College of Idaho, she was involved in an initiative to invigorate the presence of ENACTUS, an international organization that connects college scholars, academic and business leaders; worked with the college’s “Yotes Social Enterprise”; and started a movement which also spread to Boise State University and the University of Utah called #WeCareWednedays. The project created a greater sense of connection and community among students of the three schools.
In addition to her multiple roles with Peak Education, Nataya also is Head Varsity Coach of the Girls Soccer Program at The Colorado Springs School, her high school alma mater, and has served as well as Assistant Varsity Coach for the CSS Boys Soccer program.
Nancy recently moved to Colorado Springs from Dallas, Texas, where she was Director of College Guidance at a private, college preparatory high school. Prior to that she served at Vail Christian High School as English Department Chair and Director of Academic and College Guidance. As a career educator, Nancy graduated from Baylor University (BS in ED, 1984; MS in ED, 1985) and now holds several professional memberships, including with National Association for College and Admission Counseling (NACAC), The Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC ), and the Colorado Council on High School/College Relations. Most recently, Nancy achieved certification as a Highlands Certified Consultant, undergoing intensive training on how to understand and interpret the results of the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) so as to help students take stock of their natural talents and abilities in pursuing a college, field of study, and subsequent career that aligns with their strengths and passions.
Anne recently retired from 28 years of teaching humanities in independent high schools, where she also served in several administrative capacities. A West Coast native, Anne earned her BA in American studies at Stanford and earned her MA in English at UC Berkeley. Anne has delved deeply into volunteer work to increase opportunities for academic success for students challenged by diverse learning styles and low-income backgrounds. Her favorite part of teaching has always been the one-on-one conversations with students to help them discover their strengths and develop their ideas in writing. Having assisted her two daughters through the college admission and scholarship processes, not to mention helping countless seniors with their college essays, Anne is excited to join Peak Education’s new endeavor to provide college counseling services to the greater Colorado Springs community and beyond.
Financial Planning Advisor
Cooper was born and raised in Wichita, KS attending Wichita State University while running hurdles for the Shockers and graduating with a bachelor’s in entrepreneurship and a master’s in business administration.
While growing his practice, he noticed an increasing need for advice and education around consumer debt and student loan repayment for young (and old) professionals. Educating clients is essential to Cooper's practice. Preparing clients for future education costs compounds the financial impact on the families and future generations that Cooper connects with every day.
Cooper lives in Wichita with his wife and three children. In his spare time, he enjoys chasing his kids, volunteering, songwriting, and giving tours of his hometown to natives and non-natives alike.
